There are all sorts of over-the-counter teeth whiteners. You can use them to get a bright sheen, except when a specific tooth is discolored. Having such a tooth means that you may require professional internal bleaching services. Internal bleaching is different from bleaching the exterior or teeth whitening.

What is Involved in Internal Teeth Bleaching?
Internal bleaching involves whitening the tooth on the side to overcome the yellow discoloration appearing on the exterior. Standard teeth whitening products or solutions cannot provide this result because they cannot touch the inside of your tooth.

This includes finding out why the tooth has been discolored from the inside. The procedure typically involves conducting a root canal to remove and treat any dead or infected pulp tissue and accumulation of bacteria or redoing a failed root canal responsible for tooth discoloration.
This is followed by adding a specialized bleaching agent to the tooth’s inside to return it to its normal coloration. The tooth is filled, and the root canal and teeth bleaching treatment is completed.
Different Types of Internal Bleaching
The process used for internal bleaching can vary based on various factors. For example, the process can be different from the above mentioned steps if the discolored tooth has a previous root canal treatment. While every case is unique, we will usually drill a tiny hole into the affected tooth to clean the inside part of the crown and release a certain amount of bleaching agent into the interior. This is followed by placing a white filling to cover the access and making your tooth intact.
